Patriotic Charcuterie Board

An easy party appetizer you can serve for July 4th, Memorial Day, or summer celebrations, this patriotic charcuterie board is easy to make. All you need is a simple mix of fruits, cheese, vegetables, meat, and rice chips.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 c blueberries
  • 1 c cherries
  • 1 c mini mozzarella balls
  • 2 red bell peppers, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 c rice chips (round)
  • 1 c cooked sausages, sliced into rounds
  • 1 c white cheddar cheese slices, cut into small squares
  • 1 c strawberries, quartered

Method
 

  1. Grab a large rectangular tray or cutting board to use as the base for your edible flag. You can use a wooden platter, glass platter, or plastic. As long as the platter is rectangle and large enough to fit a variety of different goodies to make the flag shape it will work.
  2. Fresh fruits, sausage, and cheese are used to make the flag design. Wash the fresh fruits and veggies. Slice the strawberries, sausage, and red bell peppers so that you can easily arrange them. Using a small star-shaped cutter, cut out stars from some of the cheese slices.
  3. In the top left corner, arrange the blueberries to form the “blue field.” Place the star shaped cheese pieces on top of the blueberries to resemble stars on the flag
  4. To make the design of the American flag arrange in the following rows:
  5. Row 1: Bright red cherries.
    Row 2: Creamy white mozzarella balls.
    Row 3: Sliced red bell pepper strips.
    Row 4: Crispy round rice chips.
    Row 5: Sliced sausage rounds for a smoky savory touch.
    Row 6: Bite-sized cheddar cheese squares.
    Row 7: Juicy strawberry quarters for a fresh finish.
  6. Once you have the charcuterie board arranged, serve immediately or chill lightly before serving at a party, picnic, or patriotic celebration.
